Tree Safety Management
Land owners must take reasonable care for the safety of those who come within the vicinity of their trees. The law does not expect owners to maintain their trees in a ‘completely safe’ condition, but risk should be managed to within acceptable levels.
To ensure that tree management is both practical and proportionate, we liaise closely with our clients to zone the areas of their land according to site occupancy and use. The zoning process determines the level and frequency of survey and management (if any), allocating resources to those trees requiring it the most.
For large tree populations, working to a bespoke risk management plan is a defendable, cost effective approach to tree safety and can be incorporated into your organisation’s wider policies. This ensures peace of mind with regards to the condition of your trees and demonstrates that you are fulfilling your duty of care.
