Jonathan Astill
Jonathan Astill   Dip.Arb.(RFS) M.Arbor.A
Jonathan embarked on his career in arboriculture 20 years ago ‘in the trees and on the tools’ carrying out domestic tree surgery and woodland management work in Surrey and Hampshire. Since then he has spent 11 years as an arboricultural officer in local authority, managing tree populations and consulting on all tree related planning and legislative matters. As a qualified teacher in further education, he also worked for 5 years at Merrist Wood College and Sparsholt College as a lecturer in arboriculture. He is now an independent consultant and director of Astill Treecare Ltd.
Jonathan holds the RFS Professional Diploma in Arboriculture and is a Professional Member of the Arboricultural Association. He has extensive experience in bringing people and trees together in an environment increasingly pressured by demands on land use. During his career, Jonathan has organised community tree planting events, given talks and presentations to interest groups, parish councils and committees, arranged successful study tours in the UK and Holland and chaired the Dorset Tree and Landscape Officer’s Group.
In his spare time he enjoys cycling, karate and playing the guitar, not to mention, exploring the great outdoors with his young family.
